30424875 Rifleman Paras Ghale – Eulogy

It is with profound sadness that Headquarters Brigade of Gurkhas announces the passing of 30424875 Rifleman (Rfn) Paras Ghale. He was a dedicated and promising soldier of The First Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles. Born on 21 September 2003, he tragically passed away on 11 January 2025 at the young age of 22.

Rfn Paras Ghale was an exceptionally passionate, enthusiastic, and determined individual who demonstrated great potential and unwavering commitment to his training. He embodied the core values and standards of the British Army and the cherished traditions of Gurkha Kaida.

Enlisted into the British Army on 29 January 2024, he undertook his basic training within Gurkha Company, at the Infantry Training Centre, Catterick. On 5 December 2024, following successful completion of his training, he joined C (Mogaung) Company, 1 RGR. From his very first day, Rfn Paras Ghale stood out for his remarkable dedication, which earned the admiration of his fellow recruits and instructors alike. His outstanding work ethic, positive attitude, and admirable character left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He was a front-runner in his recruit platoon, achieving significant milestones such as securing 3rd place in the annual orienteering competition and being honoured as Endeavour of the Month in September 2024. Beyond his accomplishments, Rfn Paras Ghale was a compassionate and supportive comrade, always ready to help others during challenging times. His willingness to participate in every program and his respectful obedience made him a cherished member of Gurkha Company.

Beyond his achievements in training, Rfn Paras Ghale was known as a great entertainer during the Gurkha Company cultural programmes. He was always a willing volunteer to perform on stage and will be remembered for his enthusiasm and festive spirit by the members of Gurkha Company and their families. He brought people together with his cheerful presence, spreading happiness for those around him.

To many he was more than just a recruit or a colleague, he was a brother within the brigade. His loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Although his time with us was far too brief, Rfn Paras Ghale leaves behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and unforgettable memories that will continue to inspire us.

Rest in peace, Paras Ghale Bhai. You will always be remembered.
