Gurkha Recruiting Officers Trek the Annapurna Circuit Trek

The Annapurna circuit is one of the world’s greatest circuit treks in the world. It is a highly challenging route and requires a good level of preparation and determination to complete successfully. After successful completion of Recruit Intake 25 Initial selection, formerly known as regional selection, three of British Gurkhas Pokhara’s Recruiting Officers, Captain (Retd) Badri Kumar Rai (Senior Recruiting Officer), Major (Retd) Hebindra Pun (Area Recruiting Officer West) and Captain Ganeshkumar Gurung MVO (Area Recruiting Officer Coord) deployed from the 20th to he 25th of October on the trek, which would include visiting Tilicho Lake.

After a long and rather bumpy road journey from Pokhara, we started our trek from Pisang and continued the route to Muktinath via Tilicho lake (4919 m) and Thorang La Pass (5416 m). During the trek, we undertook some voluntary work to collect rubbish along the route, with a view to promote environmental awareness amongst the local people and fellow trekkers.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Sujan and Gun (our porters) without whom we wouldn’t be able to complete this remarkable trek in such a short period of time. This has been an absolutely amazing trip and one to remember for a long time.
