Dashain Message 2024 from Colonel Brigade of Gurkhas
On the very auspicious occasion of Bijaya Dashami 2081, I along with my family wish to send our heartfelt warm wishes to all members of the Brigade of Gurkhas, both serving and retired, and to all your families and friends. May you all look forward to a very peaceful and successful year ahead and I hope that you can all find the time, wherever you are in the world, to come together with comrades and loved ones to celebrate this auspicious occasion. That coming together strengthens our strong bonds of friendship and also reinforces the importance of remembering the magnificent country of Nepal and all that it has given to us. It is also right that we take this opportunity to acknowledge and express gratitude to our families for their deep commitment to us all; we are truly indebted to them. Of course, Dashain and Tihar are deeply religious experiences and for many a spiritual time but they are also a chance to recognise and celebrate the successes over the last year. It has been another year of significant anniversaries with the Queen’s Gurkha Signals reaching 75, The Royal Gurkha Rifles have now reached 30 and even our wonderful Museum has reached 50; I know we all wish them the very best with their amazing redevelopment plans.
For the Brigade of Gurkhas there have again been many outstanding achievements and all our units have continued to showcase their renowned Gurkha capabilities on operations, on major exercises, and in sporting and military skills. We have continued to deliver new subunits to the Army’s order of battle and further expansion is expected to continue over the coming years bringing new opportunities and improved career prospects. Collectively our officers and soldiers have displayed the highest standards and there have been countless individual and team awards and recognitions. All testament to the great Gurkha traits of teamwork, determination, and hard work. A massive congratulations and genuine thank you to all members of the Brigade.
So wherever you are, on operations or at home, and whether serving or retired, I again wish you all a very Happy Dashain and a prosperous, peaceful and healthy year ahead. As one Gurkha family, we should be justifiably proud of what we have achieved this year forged through our Kaida, traditions and heritage. We can look to the future with real confidence.

विजयादशमी बिक्रम सम्वत २०८१ को पावन अवसरमा, म र मेरो परिवारको तर्फबाट, सेवारत र अवकाश प्राप्त ब्रिगेड अफ गोर्खाजका सम्पूर्ण सदस्यहरू लगायत तपाईंका सम्पूर्ण परिवार र साथीहरूलाई हार्दिक मंगलमय शुभकामना व्यक्त गर्न चाहन्छु । तपाईंहरू सबैको आगामी वर्ष अत्यन्त शान्त, सफल र फलदायी बनोस् भन्ने कामना सहित, म आशा गर्दछु कि तपाईंहरू संसारको जुनसुकै ठाउँमा भए पनि आफ्ना साथीहरू र प्रियजनहरूसँग बसेर यो विजयादशमी धुमाधमसँग मनाउने अवसर पाउदै हुनुहुन्छ। यसले एकातर्फ हाम्रो मित्रताको गाठोलाई अरु बलियो बनाउँछ भने अर्कोतर्फ नेपालले हामीलाई दिएको सर्वस्व सम्झदै नेपाल आमा प्रति आभारी बन्न बाध्य तुल्याउँछ। तसर्थ यो समय हामीले हाम्रो परिवारलाई, वहाँहरुले प्रदान गर्नुभएको गहिरो प्रतिवध्ताको लागि, कृत्यज्ञता प्रदान गर्ने शुभ अबसरको रुपमा पनि लिनुपर्छ। निस्सन्देह, दशैं र तिहार पर्वले धार्मिक र आध्यात्मिक रुपमा गहिरो सम्बन्ध राख्छ, तथापी यस पर्वलाई विगतका वर्षमा प्राप्त गरेका महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धिहरुको पहिचान गर्ने र उत्सव मनाउने अवसरको रुपमा पनि लिनुपर्छ। हाम्रा ब्रिगेड अफ गोर्खाजका पल्टनहरुले आफ्नो महत्वपूर्ण वार्षिकोत्सवहरु मनाउँदै गर्दा, क्यू.जि.यस. ७५ वर्ष , द रोयल गोर्खा राइफल्स ३० वर्ष र हाम्रो उच्च दर्जाको संग्रहालय ५०औ वर्ष पुगेको छ। यस घडीमा हामी क्यू.जि.यस. , द रोयल गोर्खा राइफल्स र संग्रहालयको उज्वाल भबिष्यको कामना गर्दछौ।
ब्रिगेड अफ गोर्खाजले फेरि यो वर्ष पनि धेरै उल्लेखनीय उपलब्धिहरू हसिल गरेको छ र हाम्रा सबै पल्टनहरुले अविच्छिन्न रुपमा, त्यो अपरेशनमा होस्, वा ठुल्ठुला सैनिक अभ्यासहरू, खेलकुदहरु तथा विभिन्न किसिमका सैन्य कौशलता जस्ता प्रतिस्पर्धामा भाग लिदै आफ्नो उच्चस्तरको क्षमताहरू प्रदर्शन गरेका छन्। ब्रिगेड अफ गोर्खाजको आकारलाई फराकिलो पार्दै हामीले लगतार रुपमा नयाँ सबयुनिटहरू खोलि राखेका छौं, साथ-साथै अझ बढी परिष्कृत र परिमर्जित क्यारियरका नयाँ अवसर र सम्भावनाहरूलाई आत्मसाथ गर्दै, आगामी वर्षहरूमा अरु थप सबयुनिटहरू विस्तार हुने अपेक्षा समेत गरिएको छ। सामूहिक रूपमा हाम्रा अधिकृतहरु र सिपाहीहरूले उच्च स्तरको सैनिक कौशलता प्रदर्शन गरेका छन् र अनगिन्ती व्यक्तिगत र सामुहिक पुरस्कार र मान्यताहरू प्राप्त गरेका छन्। टिमवर्क, दृढता र कडा परिश्रमका पर्यावची महान गोर्खालीका यी सबुत प्रमाणहरू हुन्। यी सम्पूर्ण वजनदार उपलब्धिहरूका लागि म ब्रिगेडका सम्पूर्ण सदस्यहरुलाई हार्दिक बधाई तथा धन्यवाद दिन चाहन्छु।
अन्तमा, तपाईहरु अपरेशनमा हुनुहुन्छ वा घरमा, सेवारत हुनुहुन्छ वा सेवानिवृत्त, जहाँ भएपनि म पुन: दशैंको हार्दिक मंगलमय शुभकामना टक्र्याउदै, तपाईहरुको आगामी वर्ष समृध्द, शान्त र स्वस्थकर बनोस् भन्ने कामना गर्दछु । एउटै गोर्खा परिवारको हैसियतमा हामीले हाम्रा काइदा, परम्परा र सम्पदाको माध्यमबाट यो वर्ष जे हासिल गरेका छौं त्यसमा हामीले न्यायोचित रूपमा गर्व गर्नुपर्दछ। स्मरण रहोस्, हामी वास्तविक आत्मविश्वासका साथ भविष्यलाई हेर्न सक्छौं।
