Gurkha Airborne Sappers from 70 Gurkha Parachute Squadron recently completed Exercise RATTLE SNAKE 24 in the swamps of Louisiana, at JRTC Fort William. The squadron was attached to 51 Para Squadron in support of 2 Para’s Battalion Group validation exercise, which took place from 17 August to 8 October 2024. During this period, the squadron also provided Observer and Mentor support to the Battle Group, offering valuable feedback for improvement on various points.

Throughout the exercise, Queen’s Gurkha Engineers representatives delivered both combat engineering and infantry support to B Company, 2 Para, helping them successfully complete their mission. Furthermore, they were influential in the breaching phase of the CALFEX. The exercise proved highly successful, fostering significant integration and collaboration with US engineers and enhancing operational cohesion and joint capabilities.
