The Gurkha Staff and Personnel Support (GSPS) Badminton Running Cup 2025, was held on 21 February 2025 at Imjin Barracks, Gloucester, and showcased talent, determination, and sportsmanship. This annual competition brought together players from GSPS units for a full day of high-energy badminton action.
Under the leadership of Corporal Sangam Gurung, with the support of Major Surendra Kumar Limbu Lingden (Chairman, GSPS Badminton Club) and Staff Sergeant Yogesh Pun (Secretary, GSPS Badminton Club), the event provided an excellent platform for both experienced players and fresh talent to shine.
One of the highlights of this year’s tournament was the participation of the 24 personnel from Intake 24, who displayed impressive skills and determination. Their strong performances added a fresh spark to the competition, hinting at a bright future for GSPS badminton.
Throughout the day, the courts saw fast-paced action, powerful smashes, and intense rallies, keeping both players and spectators on the edge of their seats. The matches were played with passion, precision, and an unyielding competitive spirit, making every round more exciting than the last. After hours of gripping matches, the following players claimed the top honours:

- Running Cup Champion – Corporal Lakpa Ingnam
- Runner-up – Staff Sergeant Yogesh Pun
Plate Category:
- Champion – Corporal Aashish Thapa
- Runner-up – Private Sudip Karki
Doubles Category:
- Champions – Staff Sergeant Yogesh Pun and Corporal Lakpa Ingnam
Corporal Lakpa Ingnam stood out as the star player of the tournament, claiming both the singles title and the doubles titles, alongside Staff Sergeant Yogesh Pun, who also showcased his consistency and skill, excelling across multiple categories.

While the matches were highly competitive, the true essence of the tournament lay in the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie. Players gave their best on the court, but off it, there was an undeniable sense of encouragement and mutual respect.
