Rifleman Sampang (The First Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles) has won Gold in the Kyorugi Division (Black Belt, full contact sparring) and was awarded his medal by the First Sea Lord. He was also awarded UKAF colours by the UKAF chairman. Rifleman Sampang is currently progressing well on the British Taekwondo L2 coaching pathway. He is due to finish this on the next Army course in October 2024.
Rifleman Sisir RAI won silver in the Poomsae Dan Division (Black Belt, Technical Presentations) and he was awarded his medal by the First Sea Lord. He was also extremely competitive in the Kyorugi Division (full contact sparring), but did not reach the podium positions.
Both soldiers were an integral part of the team’s success in retaining the World Taekwondo Inter Services title for the Battalion. We look forward to supporting their continued development, as both individuals promote to higher Dan grades and become excellent coaches in this sporting discipline.
