The Second Battalion, The Royal Gurkha Rifles (2 RGR) Kassam Khane Parade took place on the 24 January 2024. The parade features welcoming the newest members of the regiment from recruit intake 2024, who completed their basic Infantry Course, in Catterick, in November 2024. The event included an inspection and march pass. But the main intention of this event is to take an oath by touching The Queen’s Truncheon.

2 RGR Recruit Intake 24 (RI 24) were eagerly waiting for this day, As the event started, a Guard of Honour was given to Colonel Brigade of Gurkhas by Captain Shiva Kumar Rai.

Families and honoured guests had already arrived, As RI 24 started marching on tot the square with the music performed of the Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas, followed by the ceremony’s inspection by Colonel Brigade of Gurkhas, 2 RGR Commanding Officer, Gurkha Major, Battalion Second in Command, Adjutant and Regimental Sergeant Major.

The time for the Gurkhas of Intake RI 24 to touch The Queen’s truncheon and take the oath for a new beginning, as their career starts from that point onwards, they are officially the members of the regiment. This event is a proud day, as it highlights the unity and fellowship among the soldiers, as well as their commitment to service.
