Headquarters Brigade of Gurkhas hosted Lieutenant General Richard Wardlaw CB OBE and Mrs Judith Wardlaw

Rifleman Bikash Limbu and Rifleman Rohit Gurung from Gurkha Wing (Mandalay), completed the challenging Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge during their Christmas leave. This event involved scaling the highest peaks in Wales Snowdon, Cadair Idris, and Pen y Fan, raising an impressive £1,000. The funds will benefit the Museum’s Project Kaida Fund, which supports the development of the Gurkha Museum which in turn promotes the rich history and heritage of the Brigade of Gurkhas.

Today 274 young men from Nepal were told they had been selected from many to become Gurkhas in the British Army. Their journeys to join the Brigade of Gurkhas may have started many years ago, but within minutes of being told by the Officer Commanding British Gurkhas Pokhara, they were being marched around camp, issued clothing and starting the path to becoming a soldier. They will move to Catterick after the Attestation parade at the end of the coming week, to start the 39-week basic training course. ⁠
